Creating the Right Game Plan for Your Exams
In the weeks leading up to any exam, we often create elaborate timetables. This timetable dictates when we should study, eat and sleep. Sadly, most students forget to balance their exam prep with breaks and leisure activities. Giving your mind some rest prevents studying from becoming monotonous and encourages better retention. As you get ready for your school exams or a JEE mock test, it’s important to get your game plan right.
Here’s a look at a few tips that will help you prepare for all your upcoming competitive exams.
Tip 1. Start in Advance
JEE, NEET and SAT prep cannot be completed in a few days or weeks. You need to start studying at least 6 months in advance. Having said that, you can’t spend 180 days glued to your books. Your schedule should allow for relaxing breaks between long periods of study.
Tip 2. Use All the Resources at Your Disposal
You can gain access to good resources for all your competitive exams online. Take a little time to do some research to the resources that could best help you in your JEE and NEET preparation. You might even find some good JEE tips that could help you crack the test.
Tip 3. Practice Until You’re Perfect
As you near the date for the test, you will have to take practice tests. Ideally, try to complete at least 3 or 4 timed tests before your exam. These tests will allow you to familiarise yourself with the subject matter and the SAT, NEET and JEE exam pattern. Practice tests are a great way to boost your confidence.
Tip 4. Take a Break
After long spells of study, it’s important to reward yourself with a well-deserved break. Take some time to walk around, play a game, or enjoy a delicious snack. Plan outings with friends or read a book that is unrelated to your exam preparation. These breaks will keep your mind fresh and help you focus better when you are studying.
Tip 5. Sleep When You Need To
Many say that sleep is like food for the brain. We need to get 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night to keep our brain functioning properly. Students who stay up late often deprive themselves of essential rest. Poor sleep can cause you to forget what you’ve studied, or cloud your mind while you try to learn new concepts. When you get enough sleep, your body and mind are refreshed so you can concentrate better.
Tip 6. Put Your Books Away the Previous Night
The night before the exam is the worst time to do any SAT, NEET or JEE preparation. By this time, you should have completed all your studying and practice tests. Instead of trying to remember last-minute details, spend the evening relaxing. Listen to some music or read your favourite book. Make sure you eat well and get a good night’s rest before the paper.
