NTA Releases 2019-20 Schedule for JEE-MAIN, NEET-UG and Other Exams

NTA or the National Testing Agency is an autonomous body, established in 2017 and approved by the Union Council of Ministers. This type of examination is conducted to check the eligibility of students for admission into engineering, management and medical colleges. NTA addresses all the issues starting from the preparation of the question paper to releasing the final cut-off marks.

In 2018, the Union HRD Minister declared that NTA will be conducting the JEE exam twice in a year from 2019 (earlier conducted by CBSE, yearly). NTA also decides the calendar for other national level exams like NEET-UG, CMAT, GPAT and UGC NET. Every year, it releases an official notification on its website.

Recently, NTA released the schedule for JEE-MAIN, NEET-UG and a list of other exams for the year 2020. This was done in order to give students sufficient time to plan and study accordingly. It also gives them the window to start their preparation early and avoid last-minute stress.

Here are the JEE 2019-2020 important dates along with NEET-UG dates:

Highlights of JEE 2020

• Official website – jeemain.nic.in
• Held twice a year, in January and April
• Mode of exam – Online (Computer-based test)
• After conducting the January and April exam, NTA will release a consolidated rank list. Along with this, students can check their percentile scores in the individual JEE exams
• Indian students with ranks up to 245,000 will be eligible for JEE Advanced (for admission into IITs)

NEET 2019-2020 exam information

• Official website – ntaneet.nic.in
• Exam date – 3rd May 2020 (only once a year)
• Mode of exam – Offline (Pen and Paper)

IIFT 2019-2020 exam information

• Exam date – 1st December 2019
• Mode of exam – Online (changed from the paper-based test)
• Duration and maximum marks- 2 hours and 100 marks
• Exam sections – Verbal ability, Reading comprehension, Quantitative aptitude, Data interpretation, Logical reasoning, General knowledge

UGC-NET 2019-2020 exam information

• Held twice in a year – June and December
• Mode of exam – Online (computer-based test)
• Medium – English or Hindi
• Two papers (Paper 1: 1 hour and Paper 2: 2 hours) with no break in between them
• Pattern – 150 Multiple-choice questions

CSIR UGC-NET 2019-2020 exam information

• Held twice in a year – June and December
• Mode of exam – Pen and paper test
• Pattern – 200 Multiple-choice questions
• Held in two sessions – morning session for Life and Earth science and evening session for Mathematical, Chemical and Physical Science.

What’s new this time?

• Starting from 2019, NTA will have a network of Test Practice Centres (TPCs) for JEE aspirants across the country. The idea behind this is to familiarise students with the exam pattern. This will help them perform better and give them first-hand experience of taking a computer-based test before the actual exam.

• From 1st September 2019 onwards, 4000 educational institutions will conduct computer-based tests on weekends. This facility is free of cost, especially for students hailing from remote areas of the country.

• The TPCs or Training Practice Centres will conduct a computer-based test that will be similar to the actual test. More like a practice test, it will help students understand the guidelines for the exam better.
