What to Do if You Score Low Marks in JEE Mains or JEE Advanced?

You had your heart set on joining a premium engineering institute to achieve your dreams of becoming an engineer. And you had studied hard and long to clear your engineering entrance exam. However, the results did not meet your expectations. Now you are disillusioned, dejected, and miserable. You do not know what to do and where to go. Relax…here are some alternatives to consider if you are dissatisfied with your scores in JEE Mains or JEE Advanced.

Consider other engineering entrance exams

If you have not done well in JEE Mains exams or JEE Advanced, consider other engineering exam options as well. You can appear for State Level Engineering entrance exams such as UPSEE, ONJEE, MET, BITS Pilani, WBJEE, VITEE, SRMJEEE, and AP EAMCET. Scoring good marks in any of these will ensure a seat in a top private engineering institute or state-based university.

Consider similar professional degreesJEE Mains or Advanced alternatives

When we say similar, we mean lateral degrees, which function as alternatives to the premium degrees. There are plenty of such degrees you can choose from. However, you must be sure of what interests you and that you will enjoy doing it in the long run. For instance, you can choose to do B.Arch, B.FTech, BCA, B.Sc Aviation, B.Sc Nautical Science, and of course, BTech, among others. These courses get you a professional degree as well as make you market-ready.

Consider options or alternatives in Pure Sciences

If you haven’t fared well in your JEE Mains or JEE Advanced, you can always consider other options. We have already mentioned other professional degrees. However, if you love science, engineering is not the only option. You can consider doing your B.Sc in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. Armed with this degree you can discover opportunities in Robotics, Computational Physics, Aerodynamics, Data Science, and many others.

Consider reattempting the following yearRepeaters course for NEET 2023

Now you may be very decided that you want to do only engineering and nothing else, or you do not have a backup plan. Then, consider reattempting the following year. This way, you have enough time to re-evaluate your preparation techniques and adopt a different approach to studies. Also, you can enroll in a JEE online coaching institute to get a fresh perspective and expert guidance. You will also have access to various study materials, sample papers, and mock tests in the class.

Consider other streams

This may sound unappealing at the onset, but trust us, it is not. If you are expected to take up engineering, but your interest lies elsewhere, then it is best to reconsider this option. You can choose from a range of options from the Humanities to Commerce. There are courses in these, such as Psychology, Economics, Management, Business, Languages, etc., that you can make a career in.
Now we have given you several options to consider in case you get low scores in the engineering entrance exam. But above all, it is important that you remain happy and positive always. There are always second chances in life. If you have decided on a reattempt, adopt the strategies for JEE droppers in your study plan this time. These will surely help you in scoring high marks in the JEE Mains or JEE Advanced.
